Concept has been percolating for years about how to illustrate brain chemistry that motivates behavior. What does the stuff look like that makes us do what we do. The neuroscience department at CWRU was not helpful. Friends referenced text that was not useful. The site I found, from UC San Diego publishes incredible images; but I still was not getting ideas how incorporate these images into the paintings. Conceptually what didn’t fit was a place for the portraits to exist. MRI brain slices are kind of flat. Electron micro images of neurons firing to each other has been done in tv advertising. So what I’ve got so far is if the brain/mind was like being inside of a planetarium. It’s just gonna have to evolve.
